Distillery ’t Nieuwe Diep is a fantastic spot to get away from the hussle of the city. The distillery is tucked away in the Flevopark. A rather unknown park in Amsterdam (let all the others run to the Vondelpark). The building was built in 1880 as a pomp house. They renovated it in 2009 and opened it in 2010 as a distillery for jenever. Jenever is a Dutch gin. Did you know it’s actually the other way around? The Dutch already had jenever. The British brought it back home and experimented with it and called their booze gin.
They make around 100 different kinds of products at distillery ’t Nieuwe Diep. You can sample their products in the tasting room. On sunny days you can grab a seat on the beautiful terrace. The terraces faces a big pond and has lots of sunny spots but also spots where you can sit in the shadow. Order a beer, jenever, some snacks or whatever you like at the hole in the wall and forget about the time.
